PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
KINGSTONIAN FOOTBALL CLUB (14 May 2000)

Motion Details

That this House congratulates Kingstonian F.C. on their thrilling victory over Kettering Town F.C. in the F.A. Trophy Cup Final 2000; notes this is a particularly historic achievement as it is the second year running that Kingstonian F.C. have won the Trophy Cup Final and the last such final to be played at the current Wembley Stadium; commends both sides for the sporting manner in which the match was played and both sets of fans for their impeccable behaviour and loyal support they showed for their local teams; applauds the Kingstonian's manager, Geoff Chappell, for continuing to develop such a strong and successful team; hopes that all those involved with football in the United Kingdom will have noted the increasing strength of non-league football, particularly in the conference and will therefore extend to more non-league clubs some of the advantage enjoyed by league clubs including funding for football academies; and wishes Kingstonian F.C. the very best for next season as they develop their stadium in anticipation of early promotion to the Football League itself.
