PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR WEST HAM (11 July 2000)
Motion Details
That this House expresses its sympathy for all the honourable Members who signed Early Day Motion 305 on 4th December 1996 in the name of the honourable Member for West Ham stating that the 2006 World Cup should he held in South Africa both as a tribute to that country's welcome return to international sport and as a further encouragement to the exciting football developments in many African countries, and regrets that the honourable Member for West Ham despite being the Prime Minister's Special Envoy and having ú3 million of Lottery funds available was unable to persuade the FIFA Executive of the merits of either the South Africa or England case.
