PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LABOUR PARTY'S CONSTITUTION (16 December 1998)
Motion Details
That this House notes the ramshackle state of the Labour Party's constitution, which allowed Liz Davies to stand as a candidate for, and be elected to, the Labour Party National Executive Committee, but prohibited her from standing as a parliamentary candidate at the last general election; notes similar inconsistencies in respect of the Labour Party's attitude to the honourable Members for Falkirk West, Brent East and Cardiff West; and urges the Government to sort out the constitution of the Labour Party, rather than inflicting further damage on the constitution of the UK.
