SELECT COMMITTEE ON THE MODERNISATION OF THE HOUSE OF COMMONS (14 December 1998)

Motion Details

That this House is concerned that the role of Parliament in the life of the nation had diminished in the past eighteen months and that the proposals in the latest report of the Select Committee on the Modernisation of the House of Commons do nothing to identify further measures to enable the House to hold the Government more effectively to account; presses the Committee to identify measures to do this in its future programme of work; and to this end urges the House not to endorce a recommendation to hold Questions on a Thursday at any time other than at 2.30 p.m.
