PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DAVID SHIELS (10 December 1998)

Motion Details

That this House notes that David Shiels, born in Maghera, Co. Londonderry, has carried throughout his life the characteristics of an Ulster countryman - integrity, loyalty and modesty - that he served with distinction for 22 years in the Royal Navy after joining on St Patrick's Day 1952, on HMS 'Vanguard', the UK's last battleship, and that he leaves this House as Principal Doorkeeper after serving 25 years, a total of 46 years in uniform; thanks him for his service; and wishes him years of fruitful retirement with his family and friends.
