PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WARM HOMES AND ENERGY CONSERVATION (9 December 1998)
Motion Details
That this House commends the Warm Homes and Energy Conservation (15 Year Programme) Bill introduced in the last Session by a cross-party group of honourable Members which would require the Secretary of State to draw up a 15 year programme of action to ensure that energy conservation measures are taken on 500,000 homes per year over a period of 15 years; acknowledges that such a programme is designed to end fuel poverty in the United Kingdom; recognises that it would benefit the environment and create jobs; notes that the Bill does not create powers of entry into private homes; further notes that it does not involve compelling private individuals to carry out works, but rather relies on persuasion and promotion; and hopes that there will be time to discuss and pass the Bill in this Session.
