PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES (3 December 1998)

Motion Details

That this House is deeply concerned about the fall in Government investment in research and development, dissemination and demonstration of renewable energy technologies from ú26 million in 1993-94 to ú14 million in 1997-98; notes that the UK has huge, unexploited resources which can meet the country's energy needs and create thousands of new jobs and industries; calls on Her Majesty's Government to promote the development of renewable sources of energy and publish its Renewables Review without further delay; and urges the government to set a target for energy generation from renewables beyond 2010 to ensure that the development of renewables makes a substantial contribution to the UK Government's greenhouse gas reduction targets and to longer-term amelioration of climate change.
