PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
TELECOMMUNICATION MASTS (2 December 1998)

Motion Details

That this House notes with extreme concern the proliferation of telecommunication masts in all areas of the United Kingdom; condemns the use by telecommunication companies of the Town and Country Planning General Permitted Development Order 1995 to bypass scrutiny by democratically elected members of planning authorities for installations of less than 15 metres in height; notes with concern the dangers to health from such installations; calls upon the Government to review existing legislation relating to telecommunication masts and installations, in particular the use of permitted development rights; and urges the Government to require all local authorities with planning functions to prepare authority-wide planning policies for the erection of telecommunication facilities.
