PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SCOTTISH CASHMERE INDUSTRY (16 February 1999)

Motion Details

That this House deplores the failure of the European Union and the United States of America to resolve the trade dispute arising from the so-called banana war; recognises the serious impact which the United States retaliatory measures are having on British industries; in particular acknowledges the potentially devastating effect on the cashmere industry in the Scottish Borders; and urges the Government to step up its diplomatic and other efforts to find the earliest possible solution to the dispute.
