PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
KASHMIR (3 February 1999)
Motion Details
That this House notes that 5th February marks Kashmir Solidarity Day; notes that a peaceful solution to one of the world's longest running disputes appears no closer; calls on Her Majesty's Government vigorously to support the United Nations resolutions of 1948, 1949 and 1957, which uphold the right of the Kashmir people to self-determination; and urges the Government to use its influence to persuade India and Pakistan to re-open negotiations over a settlement to the Kashmir dispute.
