ROYAL HOSPITAL, HASLAR (No. 2) (27 January 1999)
Motion Details
That this House notes that some 22,000 people attended a rally and march from Walpole Park, Gosport, to the Royal Hospital, Haslar, on Sunday 24th January to protest about the proposed closure of the hospital; congratulates all those who took part on the good-humoured nature of this demonstration which is an issue of passionate concern to local residents; notes that all political parties have joined together in the Save Haslar Campaign; and urges Her Majesty's Government to reconsider its proposal to close the Royal Hospital, Haslar, and instead to use the facilities of the Royal Hospital, Haslar, in a new partnership with the National Health Service in order to continue medical cover of the highest order for the citizens of the Gosport and Fareham area and to maintain the Royal Hospital, Haslar, as a centre of excellence for the Defence Medical Services.
