STREET LIGHTING AND CRIME (19 January 1999)

That this House notes the research by Professor Ken Pease, Dr Kate Painter and others which shows that street lighting can reduce crime; and calls upon the Home Office to recognise street lighting as one means of combating night time street crime and to encourage local authorities to take the standard of street lighting into account when conducting crime and disorder audits.
