PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CO-OPERATIVE INSURANCE SOCIETY AND SOCIAL AUDIT (18 May 1999)

That this House welcomes the announcement by the Co-operative Insurance Society of its intention to be the first major UK insurance company to undertake a process of social audit, measuring its contribution to society in a variety of areas, including customer service, responsible investment and the environment; further welcomes the commitment by CIS to independent audit of its social performance; notes that this initiative is in keeping with the spirit, tradition and values of the Co-operative Movement; and calls upon the whole of the UK insurance industry to follow this positive example.
