Motion Details
That this House notes the Government's stated intention to take all possible steps to protect children and young people; welcomes the action already taken by the Government in the development of the National Childcare Strategy; commends the Government on its recent advice for parents intending to employ nannies and on its support for the Child Protection Bill; which will help to exclude unsuitable people from working with children and young people; supports the current campaign by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to obliterate child abuse; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to strengthen the measures already taken by offering support to the National Childcare Register Joint Campaign Group and its constituent members in developing a national register which will reassure all agencies and individuals employing people to work with children and young people by providing them with full, checked information on registered applicants.
