NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK 1999 (3 May 1999)

Motion Details

That this House notes that it is National Volunteers Week from 1st to 7th June; welcomes the work being done during the week to recognise and reward the contribution these 22 million unsung heroes make to the quality of life in the United Kingdom; recognises the important part that volunteering plays in the battle against social exclusion; supports initiatives currently being undertaken to promote volunteering amongst black and ethnic minority communities and vulnerable groups such as the homeless; and congratulates the National Centre for Volunteering, the National Association of Volunteer Bureaux, the Northern Ireland Development Agency, Volunteer Development Scotland and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action for marking this week for the 13th year.
