CONTROL OF AIRPORT NOISE BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES (13 April 1999)
Motion Details
That this House notes that the noise from airports and airfields impacts adversely on the quality of life of local communities; notes that noise from airports and airfields can have adverse social and possible health impacts on local communities; is concerned that air traffic in the United Kingdom is growing at 5 to 6 per cent. per annum effectively doubling within the next 15 years; further notes that the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions stated in July 1998 in the integrated Transport White Paper that the Government would enact legislation for local authorities to enforce noise mitigation measures on airports and airfields; and urges the introduction of legislation to enable local authorities to enforce noise control at airports and airfields.
