PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GOVERNMENT'S CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY (30 March 1999)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Government upon its manifesto commitment to reduce United Kingdom carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent. based on 1990 levels by 2010; further congratulates the Prime Minister for making it clear in this House that this 'is not a conditional target'. 24th June 1998, 314 c687-8; welcomes this unequivocal statement; and looks forward to the setting out and introduction of policies to meet this target as the next stage in the Government's continuing lead to the rest of the world, which has already been demonstrated at International negotiations such as the Kyoto Intergovernmental Meeting on Climate change at which the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister played such a key role in winning an agreement.
