PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SURF LIFE SAVING ASSOCIATION (12 July 1999)

That this House commends the safe and enjoyable environment provided on British beaches by the Surf Life Saving Association and other organisations with similar aims; recognises that many lives are saved each year by members of the Association; welcomes the opportunities offered to young people to participate in organised life saving as a voluntary public service; recognises that this encourages high standards of team work and responsibility; congratulates the Association on its work towards creating a National Beach Lifeguarding strategy; regrets the fact that the Association lost over ú4,800 last year; and calls on the Government to support lifeguards in every possible way.
