PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BRITISH AEROSPACE, DUNSFOLD (11 July 1999)

Motion Details

That this House expresses its grave concern at British Aerospace's plans to close their site at Dunsfold, noting the dangerous strategic impact this will have on the United Kingdom armed forces, and their ability to maintain their fleet of Harriers, and the devastating impact of the loss of hundreds of highly-skilled jobs on the local economy; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to work with the company to explore ways of saving this strategically important facility, including the establishment of a high-level joint working party between the company and the trade unions, and the establishment of a formal relationship between British Aerospace and the Defence Aviation Repair Agency to undertake future refitting work on the United Kingdom's Harriers.
