North-West Water Price Rises (8 February 1990)
Motion Details
That this House notes that North-West Water have announced plans to increase charges for water and sewerage services by 12.5 per cent. well in excess of inflation; recognises that this confirms the fears of those opposed to privatisation that water would become more expensive in real terms; and calls upon the Director General of Water Services to call in these proposals and ensure that rises are justified by an independent investigation of the needs of the consumer.
