PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MEN'S HEALTH (13 June 1999)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Consumer Health Information Centre on its recently launched campaign aimed at improving the health of young men, who are bad at looking after their health; welcomes that it acknowledges that men are often reluctant to seek advice on health matters until it is too late for anything but expensive remedial action; applauds the campaign's aims to encourage young men to recognise the early symptoms of an illness or ailment about which they can do something, and take the appropriate action; urges the Government to take note that research conducted by the British Market Research Bureau shows that men rarely, if ever, visit their doctor or pharmacist and yet 56 per cent. suffer from skin problems and 35 per cent. for digestive-disorders over a two week period; and calls upon the Government to take action to improve health communications aimed at young men.
