PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EVERYMAN PARLIAMENTARY AWARENESS DAY (13 June 1999)

That this House expresses its gratitude to the many organisations and individuals who work to raise awareness of male congratulates the Institute of Cancer Research on its Everyman campaign to draw attention to prostate and testicular cancers and notes that 16th June is the first Everyman Parliamentary Awareness Day; encourages all honourable and Right honourable Members to wear the perkin on that day to show their support; notes that prostate cancer is predicted to overtake lung and breast cancer to become the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK by 2018, that testicular cancer is the most common cancer to affect young men and that cases have doubled in the last 20 years, yet research shows that over 80 per cent. of men know little or nothing about the disease; and further welcomes the establishment of the All-Party Group on Male Cancers.
