DOWN'S SYNDROME AWARENESS WEEK (7 June 1999)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Down's Syndrome Association for the launch of its Health Alert Campaign on discrimination against people with Down's syndrome by health professionals during the Down's Syndrome Awareness Week (5th to 11th June), supports the notion that people with Down's syndrome are entitled to equal access to medical care; notes that the Down's syndrome Association's report, He'll never join the Army..., shows 28 per cent. of respondents have experienced medical discrimination, adversely affecting the quality of care given; congratulates the Government for its policy of non-discrimination; and urges them to do everything possible to implement it.
