PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ASSISTED PLACES FOR PREPARATORY SCHOOL CHILDREN (2 June 1997)

Motion Details

That this House notes that in a letter dated 1st April 1997 the honourable Member for Liverpool, Walton, then the Shadow Minister for Schools, gave an undertaking to the Chairman of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools that a future Labour Government would honour the assisted places of children through to age 13 where the place was at a school which ran to age 13; and regrets the decision of Her Majesty's Government not to honour this pledge and to terminate such places at age 11 save in exceptional circumstances.
