PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ORGANOPHOSPHATES (2 June 1997)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates members of the all-party group who have worked together over the past few years to draw attention to the ill health experienced by many members of the farming community on exposure to organophosphates; welcomes the belated recognition of the devastating effect which exposure to organophosphate dips has had on many people; urges Her Majesty's Government to accelerate a study to determine the number of farmers whose health has been adversely affected, especially during the period when sheep dipping was compulsory; and further calls on the Government to ban the use and sale of all products including domestic flea sprays which include organophosphorous compounds.
