PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Conduct of the Hon. Member for Stirling (6 February 1990)
Motion Details
That this House notes the Channel 4 programme, Scottish Eye, scheduled for broadcast at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday 10th February, will critically examine the unparalleled enthusiasm of the Greater Glasgow Health Board for privatising the National Health Service services for which it has responsibility, and the Board's confrontational management style; condemns the refusal by the honourable Member for Stirling, who has junior ministerial reponsibility for the National Health Service in Scotland, to appear on the programme; interprets his lack of willingness to publicly debate such important matters as an admission that the policies of the Greater Glasgow Health Board cannot be defended in the face of reasoned criticism; recognises that the effect will be to further undermine the already low morale of staff employed, at all levels, by the Greater Glasgow Health Board; and calls on the honourable Member for Stirling to explain and justify his uncharacteristic reticence.
