PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
TREATY OF AMSTERDAM (21 July 1997)

Motion Details

That this House, in view of the need to discuss properly the complex and important issues raised by the Treaty of Amsterdam, and the need for full openness in government, urges Her Majesty's Government to print and publish by the end of September a consolidated version of the Principal Treaties of the European Community and Union, as proposed to be amended by the Treaty of Amsterdam, so that recent changes can be understood in context, and considers that, prior to signature by any Minister of the Crown, the proposed text of the Treaty must be debated for at least two full days on the floor of this House on an amendable motion.
