Motion Details

That this House strongly endorses the sentiments expressed by General Lee Butler, retired, former head of the United States Strategic Command, the Canberra Commission on the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, 61 former top ranking military officials from all over the world and the United Nations General Assembly that immediate and determined efforts need to be made to rid the world of nuclear weapons and the threat they pose to it; notes the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice that there exists an obligation to pursue in good faith and bring to a conclusion negotiations leading to nuclear disarmament in all its aspects under strict and effective international control; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to play its full part in the international nuclear disarmament process to ensure there will one day be a nuclear weapon free world.
