BRITISH BEEF (9 December 1997)

Motion Details

That this House believes that British beef is the most safely produced beef in the world; supports the British beef industry; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to press other European Union governments to introduce for their farmers the same rigorous quality labelling, documentation and traceability regulations as proposed for British farmers; calls for the immediate labelling of beef and beef products in the United Kingdom to show the country of origin and the country in which the beef was processed; and finally calls for the banning of all meat imports into the United Kingdom of all beef that is over thirty months old, and of all beef under thirty months old where traceability cannot be guaranteed.
