PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INDEPENDENT COMMISSION ON VOTING SYSTEMS (1 December 1997)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the establishment of an independent commission on voting systems to recommend a proportional alternative to the first-past-the-post system for election to the House of Commons which can then be put to a referendum of the British people before the next general election; and believes that open and informed discussion of the options for electoral reform will be good for democracy in the United Kingdom.
