SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET (17 November 1997)

Motion Details

That this House congratulates Sony/Columbia Tri Star on the release on Friday 21st November of their new film, Seven Years in Tibet, which chronicles the Chinese invasion of Tibet; and urges Her Majesty's Government to use every opportunity to persuade the Chinese authorities to enter into negotiations without pre-conditions with the Tibetan Government-in-Exile and for the Chinese authorities to cease without delay their systematic human rights abuses, their suppression of religious freedom and their policy of turning the Tibetans into a minority in their own country.
