PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HUMAN RIGHTS IN CHILE (9 March 1998)

Motion Details

That this House is appalled that Augusto Pinochet, dictator of Chile from 1973 to 1990, is due to be sworn in as Senator for Life; recalls his horrific regime during which the elected President Salvador Allende was murdered as were thousands of his supporters and that many more were forced into exile; sympathises with the many Chilean people who lost loved ones and want to find out the truth; and wishes the peaceful demonstrations for human rights on 11th March well.
