PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WILLIAM MURDOCH AND THE RMS TITANIC (25 February 1998)

Motion Details

That this House notes with dismay the inaccuracies in the film 'Titanic' in which William McMaster Murdoch, First Officer of the 'Titanic', is portrayed as a coward who shoots and kills a passenger and then takes his own life, whereas in real life he behaved heroically in assisting passengers to reach lifeboats; and calls on the film's director James Cameron and 20th Century Fox to apologise to William Murdoch's family and to the local community in Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire, where Murdoch is rightly regarded as a hero.
