PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PARLIAMENTARY CHILDCARE PROVISION (18 February 1998)
Motion Details
That this House urges the Government and the relevant House of Commons committees to accept the need for appropriate child care provisions at affordable rates open to all those who work in the Palace of Westminster and associated buildings, as well as child care allowances for those who work outside the Parliamentary Estate; believes that this would be a powerful signal of the Government's commitment to family-friendly policies; further believes that such facilities would do much to promote equal opportunities for existing and future members of staff and to reduce staff turnover and consequently loss of experience; notes that a survey will be conducted by the House of Commons Commission to ascertain current levels of demand for childcare; and urges all those who work in the Palace of Westminster to complete the survey.
