PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PLANNING APPROVAL FOR POWER STATIONS (5 February 1998)

Motion Details

That this House notes its concern that private energy companies have the right to develop former power station sites without planning permission, if those stations have a capacity of 50 MW or less; and further notes that this exemption takes away the right of local authorities to plan for the consequences of such a development and moreover sets a worrying precedent for the take-up of other sites which previously have been regulated in some way but will in future require no reference to planning law.
