PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AT WORK (29 January 1998)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned by the extent of illegal child employment in the UK; recognises that almost two million school age children have some form of employment; acknowledges that for many this employment is a positive experience, encouraging independence and responsibility; but is concerned that three quarters of working children are employed illegally and that many of these may risk physical harm or educational disadvantage; and welcomes the Employment of Children Bill which seeks to limit working hours to 12 each week and to provide greater protection for Britain's school-age workforce.
