PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LONDON LIGHTHOUSE (31 March 1998)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates London Lighthouse on its record of achievement as a flagship service for people with HIV and AIDS; welcomes the developments in drug therapies which have dramatically improved the prognosis for many people with HIV/AIDS; notes that the introduction of these therapies has reduced the demand for residential care; recognises that HIV has not gone away, that combination therapy is not a cure and that many people continue to need services to support them in different ways; notes also that Lighthouse has been actively re-modelling its services in the light of changing patterns of demand; welcomes the constructive role which the Government has played during this time of dramatic change; and urges the Government to continue to support Lighthouse through this period of transition and to help ensure that this superb centre continues to be a resource for the community.
