PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CANBURY GARDENS, KINGSTON UPON THAMES (25 March 1998)

Motion Details

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'notes that the felling of the Lombardy poplars has been debated in public three times by full council meetings of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames; notes that councillors of all parties voted for the felling of the trees; further notes that the cost of removing protesters from Canbury Gardens has increased significantly due to delaying tactics of Labour councillors; welcomes the replacement planting plan to be carried out which will include many different species of trees than are currently there, enhancing Canbury Gardens for both residents and visitors to the borough for generations to come; and congratulates Kingston Council on its excellent record of planting over 10,000 new trees across the borough in just four years.'.
