PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
AIR-CONDITIONING OF THE MILLENNIUM DOME (19 March 1998)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the fact that the air-conditioning system in the Millennium Dome will use HFC gases, powerful greenhouse gases one thousand times more potent than carbon dioxide; believes this represents a poor start to the new millennium by placing pollution at the heart of the premier millennium project; welcomes the action reportedly being taken by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Environment Minister to seek to reverse this; and calls on the Minister without Portfolio to admit he was wrong and agree to replace the planned HFCs with available alternatives based on the type of green technologies the Government says it is keen to promote.
