PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DISABLED PERSONS AND CARERS (SHORT-TERM BREAKS) (16 March 1998)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the value of short-term breaks for both disabled people and carers; commends local authorities and voluntary organisations which provide short-term breaks and respite care; notes that short-term breaks are intended to provide disabled people and carers with more of an ordinary life and that the most effective way to ensure short-term breaks is through the local authority's community care assessment; and urges the Government to ensure that provision is made for those assessed as needing short-term breaks.
