PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BERLIN AIRLIFT COMMEMORATION (15 June 1998)

Motion Details

That this House acknowledges the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift; recognises the skill, competence and courage of the servicemen and women involved, one third of which were British aircraft and crew; further recognises this airlift as a most notable historic and successful campaign by the democratic world to maintain freedom in West Berlin and prevent the Soviets from taking over the whole city; and notes with concern the Royal Mail's refusal to mark this important anniversary with the issue of commemorative stamps as has been done by all other participants.
