PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WESTMINSTER CENTRAL HALL (10 June 1998)

Motion Details

That this House congratulates the Methodist Church on almost 100 years of service to God, the nation and the community through its Ministry at the Westminster Central Hall and in particular (a) its unique pastoral ministry exercised by the ministerial staff to the Palace of Westminster and (b) its support of the ecumenical movement alongside Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral as a symbol of the Free Church witness, together with Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches, at the heart of the nation; in consequence expresses its regret that the Methodist Conference are considering a proposal to relocate the Methodist Church Headquarters, which may diminish the ability of the Methodist Church to exercise its national role and its ecumenical commitment in concert with other churches in close proximity to Westminster Central Hall; and asks that no decision should be made without further careful consideration of the aforementioned concerns.
