WEST COAST MAINLINE EUROPEAN RAIL LINK (9 June 1998)

Motion Details

That this House welcomes the statement by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, made on Wednesday 3rd June, that the Channel Tunnel Rail Link will go ahead; and hopes that the Secretary of State will do everything in his power to ensure that the West Coast Mainline is upgraded to include a direct link to the Channel Tunnel in order to improve access to Europe and to bring better economic prospects for business and industry into the North West Region and enabling other regions along the West Coast Mainline to benefit as well.
