PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PREVENTATIVE HEALTH CARE AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY (8 June 1998)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the ill health caused by fuel poverty and poor housing; believes that treating the problem of cold and damp housing through improving the energy efficiency of homes rather than repeatedly treating the illnesses it causes is better for patients' quality of life; therefore welcomes the work that health authorities and others have done in areas such as Birmingham and Cornwall, where health authorities have made money available to improve homes, thereby enabling the occupants to keep warm and healthy; and further welcomes the Preventive Health Care and Home Insulation Bill, presented by a cross-party group of honourable Members, which would require all health authorities to consider setting up such schemes.
