PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CAP EXPENDITURE (8 June 1998)
Motion Details
That this House expresses its disgust and horror that in addition to the massive sum spent on subsidising the growing of food products and, through set aside, the non growing of food products, that last year ú4,565,000,000 was spent on subsidising the dumping of surplus food from the EU and that ú213,000,000 was spent on the alleged withdrawal of fruit and vegetables from the market, largely by destroying these products at great expense; is concerned that the structure of the EU is such that this monstrous protection racket will never be reformed; and urges Her Majesty's Government to make it clear that the basic intention of Her Majesty's Government will be to seek to repatriate responsiblity for the management of agriculture to individual democtratic governments which would have the power to halt this shameful abuse of taxpayers' money.
