PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EARLY DAY MOTIONS (13 May 1998)
Motion Details
That this House notes the proliferation of increasingly bizarre Early Day Motions; and calls upon all honourable Members immediately to adopt a self-denying ordinance and to cease to submit or sign any Early Day Motions, particularly those which attempt to curry favour with the supporters of obscure sects, pressure groups and football teams, as such activity gives a totally false impression of the business of the House, causes unwarranted work to a decent, hard-working and underpaid body of civil servants, researchers and secretaries and is a confounded nuisance for those honourable Members whose constituents then urge them to sign said Early Day Motion.
