PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
KYOTO AND THE G8 SUMMIT (12 May 1998)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Government on its support for the Kyoto Agreement and its determination to meet its own 20 per cent carbon dioxide emissions targets; and urges the Prime Minister to take a lead in the forthcoming G8 Summit and in the months ahead by seeking to negotiate an agreement to the principle of the deliberate allocation of available carbon dioxide emission rights converging to equal per capita shares globally by an agreed date, thus reconciling the position of the US Senate with that of China, India and the Africa Group.
