PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PRESERVATION OF WEST YORKSHIRE BUSES AT TRANSPERIENCE (27 April 1998)
Motion Details
That this House notes with great concern and sadness that the splendid collection of public road transport vehicle buses and trolley-buses housed at Low Moor in Bradford on the site of Transperience, are in danger of being disposed of to the highest bidder by Coopers and Lybrand, as administrators to the West Yorkshire Transport Trust; is conscious of the fact that these magnificent vehicles were given in good faith by Bradford, Leeds, Calderdale and Kirklees local authorities for a West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council Road Trans port Museum; believes it is essential that this collection should remain intact and on public view in West Yorkshire, preferably in the Bradford District, for the benefit of future generations; requests the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to take what actions are appropriate to achieve this end; and also calls upon the Charity Commission to institute enquiries to halt the disposal and dispersal of this unique aspect of West Yorkshire's rich transport heritage.
