PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BOARDROOM PAY (22 July 1998)
Motion Details
That this House is appalled by the greed displayed by the board members of too many British companies in voting themselves grotesquely excessive salary increases, performance bonuses and share options even when company performance is no more than average, thus creating inflationary pressures and running counter to the national imperative for wage restraint; and accordingly asks the Government to consider ways of restricting this abuse, including, if necessary, special tax measures.
