PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
REINVESTMENT OF SPEED CAMERA REVENUE (20 July 1998)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the important contribution made by speed cameras to reductions in speeding and enforcement of speed limits; notes the high level of public demand and interest from parish councils, community groups and others for new installations; notes however with regret the difficulties experienced by many police forces and highway authorities in providing for the costs of administration involved; and accordingly believes that a proportion of the fine revenue collected should be allocated to police authorities to defray administrative costs and allow for an enhanced programme of installation in areas where the safety of the public is at risk.
